Meet Shane
Your local pet care professional, neighbor, and passionate advocate for compassionate, science-based animal care.
I'm Shane O. McIntire, the founder of Sit.Stay.Walk.Play. Pet Services. As a Somerset County resident and lifelong animal lover, I've dedicated my career to providing professional, trustworthy pet care that treats every animal with the respect, patience, and kindness they deserve.
What started as a passion for helping pets and their families has grown into a professional practice built on education, certification, and a deep commitment to doing things the right way. I'm not a franchise or a rotating team of strangers—I'm one person who will show up consistently for you and your pet, building a relationship based on trust and reliability.
Whether I'm walking your dog through familiar neighborhood streets, helping you solve a challenging behavioral issue, or caring for your cat while you're away, you can count on the same compassionate, professional service every single time. I treat every pet as if they were my own, because that's the standard of care your family deserves.
Why Work With Me?
You're not just hiring a service—you're choosing a trusted professional who cares about your pet's well-being.
🏘️ Local & Personally Invested

🤝 Consistent, Reliable Care
I'm dedicated to being your consistent caregiver. Your pet will get to know me and feel comfortable—that personal connection and consistency is core to what I offer.
🎓 Professionally Trained & Certified
I've invested in professional education and certification to ensure I'm providing the highest standard of care. This isn't a side hustle—it's my profession, and I take it seriously.

I carry professional liability insurance, am fully bonded, and hold a State of New Jersey Animal Control Officer license (#03638). You and your pet are protected.

Training Philosophy
Science-backed, compassionate methods that build trust and create lasting change.
LIMA: Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive
I use the gentlest effective methods first. That means positive reinforcement, management, and environmental changes before considering any aversive tools or techniques.
No shock collars. No prong collars. No harsh corrections. Just structure, clarity, and compassion.
Positive-Based, Aversive-Free
I focus on rewarding what I want to see more of rather than punishing unwanted behaviors. This builds confidence, trust, and a willingness to learn.
Training should be fun for both you and your pet. When learning is enjoyable, results come faster and last longer.
Address Root Causes
Behavioral problems rarely happen in a vacuum. I look at the whole picture: environment, health, emotions, history, and relationships.
Sometimes a behavior issue is really a medical issue, anxiety, or unmet needs. Solving the real problem means lasting results.
Collaborative & Holistic
When a client requests it or a case calls for additional expertise, I coordinate with other specialists such as veterinarians to ensure the best outcome for your pet.
Every situation is different, and I approach each case with that flexibility in mind.
